Comparison

A ChargeGuard alternative for Stripe businesses

ChargeGuard and Flatfight both charge a flat monthly fee for dispute responses. An honest comparison of price at every volume, how evidence is built and submitted, and when ChargeGuard is the better choice.

The short version

ChargeGuard and Flatfight both answer chargebacks for a flat monthly fee instead of a cut of what you win. That puts them in the same camp, against percentage-based tools like Chargeflow and Stripe Smart Disputes. They differ in three ways:

  • Price. Flatfight costs less at every volume: a free plan, then $49, $99 or $149 a month. ChargeGuard starts at $149 a month.
  • Evidence. Flatfight builds evidence from your Stripe data and from your product: logins, lessons completed and downloads from PostHog, Segment, RudderStack, Teachable or Thinkific. ChargeGuard builds responses from the dispute data it syncs from your processor and the evidence you store with it.
  • Processors. ChargeGuard works with Stripe, Shopify, PayPal and Braintree. Flatfight works only with Stripe.

If you take payments through several processors, ChargeGuard covers more ground. If you're on Stripe and sell software, courses or memberships, Flatfight costs less and has more to work with.

Disputes a month ChargeGuard Flatfight
Trying it out 14-day free trial, no card Free plan: full responses for 2 disputes of your choice, no card, no time limit
Up to 10 $149 (Starter, up to 25) $49 (Starter)
Up to 25 $149 (Starter) $99 (Growth, up to 40)
Up to 40 $299 (Pro, up to 100) $99 (Growth)
Up to 100 $299 (Pro) $149 (Scale, unlimited)
Up to 300 $499 (Growth) $149 (Scale)
More than 300 Enterprise: 10% of what you recover $149 (Scale)

Both keep 100% of what you win below Enterprise volumes. Above 300 disputes a month, ChargeGuard moves to a percentage; Flatfight stays at $149.

On trials: disputes arrive when they arrive, often weeks apart. A 14-day trial can end before your first one does. Flatfight's Free plan has no time limit, so you see a real response to a real dispute before you pay anything.

How the evidence is built

ChargeGuard Flatfight
Processors Stripe, Shopify, PayPal, Braintree Stripe only
Data from Stripe Disputes synced from your processor The payment, 3D Secure and address checks, receipts, invoices, subscriptions, refunds, and earlier payments on the same card
Data from your product Not mentioned on ChargeGuard's site PostHog (one click), Segment, RudderStack, Teachable, Thinkific, or your own logs by API or CSV: logins, usage and downloads with IP address and device
Policies Stored evidence you can reuse Read from your website, with refund and cancellation wording quoted word for word
Written response AI-generated, tailored to the reason code Written with Claude, with every sentence tied to a fact and checked before you see it
Case strength Not mentioned Every dispute scored, with a recommendation to accept weak cases and save the counter fee
Submitting Submit directly, or copy into your processor's dashboard Submitted through Stripe in one click after you approve; optional autopilot for strong cases
Data location See ChargeGuard's privacy policy EU (Helsinki, Finland), encrypted at rest, with a DPA

The product data matters most for digital businesses. When a customer says a payment was fraud, or that they never got what they paid for, the strongest answer is that they logged in, completed lessons or downloaded files afterwards, from the IP address they paid from. Stripe can't see that. Your product can.

Who Flatfight is for

Flatfight fits best if you:

  • take payments through Stripe and sell software, online courses, memberships or digital services;
  • have disputes worth fighting, like annual plans and higher-priced programmes;
  • can show what customers did after paying, in a tool you already use or your own logs;
  • want to see the evidence and approve what goes to the bank.

ChargeGuard is the better choice if you also take payments through Shopify, PayPal or Braintree and want one tool for all of them.

Switching

  1. Start on the Free plan and connect Stripe. Flatfight imports your last 12 months of disputes and scores the open ones.
  2. Make sure only one tool responds. Stripe accepts one response per dispute: turn off submission in the tool you're leaving for disputes Flatfight will handle, and Smart Disputes auto-submission in Stripe (Settings → Disputes).
  3. Connect your product data and policies. Connect PostHog in one click or paste a URL into Segment, and let Flatfight read your policies from your website.
  4. Review your first response. Use a free response on the dispute that matters most, and submit it when you're happy with it.

Disputes your previous tool already submitted stay with that tool until the bank decides them.
