Flatfight for Intercom

Connect Intercom to Flatfight and the disputing customer's own messages become evidence for your Stripe dispute. Setup, permissions and how the data is handled.

What it does

When a customer disputes a Stripe payment, the bank decides on evidence. Often the strongest evidence is what the customer told you before they disputed: "Thanks, I got access", a question about using a feature, praise for your course, or the fact that they never asked to cancel.

With Intercom connected, Flatfight finds the disputing customer's conversations by email as soon as a dispute arrives. It suggests the messages that help your case and flags any that could hurt it, so nothing surprises you. You choose what goes to the bank. The messages you tick are added to the "Customer communication" document in the evidence package, alongside the payment details, product usage and your policies.

Set up

  1. Sign up for Flatfight (free plan, no card) and connect your Stripe account.
  2. In Flatfight, open Integrations > Intercom and click Connect Intercom.
  3. Choose your Intercom workspace and approve read access. You come straight back to Flatfight.
  4. Under Try a search, enter a customer's email to check Flatfight finds their conversations. A test search stores nothing.

From then on, every new dispute looks the customer up automatically. Open the dispute's Messages tab to see what was found, tick what you want included, and rebuild the evidence package.

Workspaces hosted in the US, the EU and Australia are all supported.

Permissions

Flatfight asks for read access only:

Permission Why Flatfight needs it
Read and list users and companies Find the disputing customer's contact by email
Read conversations Read that customer's conversations to use as evidence
Read one admin Show which Intercom workspace is connected

Flatfight never sends messages, replies, assigns, tags or changes anything in Intercom.

How your data is handled

  • Only the disputing customer. Flatfight searches Intercom only for the email addresses on the disputed payment, only when a dispute arrives (or when you search again from the dispute). It never copies your other customers or conversations.
  • Never internal notes. Admin notes and assignments are skipped.
  • You decide what's sent. Messages found in Intercom start unticked unless they help your case. Messages you leave out are deleted once the dispute is decided.
  • Stored securely. Your Intercom access token is encrypted, and Flatfight is hosted in the EU (Helsinki, Finland) with a data processing agreement. See Security and our Privacy policy.

Disconnect

In Flatfight, open Integrations > Intercom and click Disconnect Intercom, which deletes the stored access. You can also remove Flatfight in Intercom under Settings > Apps & integrations. Messages already added to disputes stay with those disputes and are deleted with your other data after your retention period.
